Finding Success in Your Day Outside the Mundane
When people go to the gym they tend to time or measure everything. How many sit-ups they did. How long they ran for. Their heart rate. The calories burned. The list goes on.
Each of these measures is seen as an achievement.
Yet when it comes to day to day tasks, we don’t tend to give ourselves the same credit. I mean who really wants to go around saying they cleaned the bathroom in 20 minutes flat today.
So why are some tasks achievements and others just things that we do throughout the day?
One of the reasons I started this journey was to reconnect the efforts of the day to day in a positive manner. Redefine how we look at time blocks.
If you lay out your day and write out even the mundane tasks, you start to really appreciate the small things. The time you took to water the plants you love or at least want to give a fighting chance. The time you took folding laundry while watching your favourite show or the time you spent getting caught up with a friend.
Tonight when you go to bed, try and think about the time blocks you accomplished. Not just the obvious ones like going to work or cooking dinner. But the ones in between. The ones that you did to bring yourself joy or relieve stress. The ones that made someone else’s day, and not just yours.
These are the moments we so often overlook but are vital to our overall inner peace and they deserve to have their success in your day called out as well.
